AMMAN — Minister of Agriculture Khalid Hneifat on Saturday examined a number of projects in the Tafileh Governorate. Hneifat inspected several projects related to Tafileh's Tannur Dam, including a programme in which 51 agricultural engineers are undergoing training in hydroponics, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The minister met with several engineers who are taking part in the training and Ali Al Masri, who represents the Agricultural Engineers Union. The engineers told Hneifat about challenges they faced during their training and thanked the ministry for creating the new opportunity.
Other stops in the minister's tour included a fish-farming project in Basira and a food industry project in Gharandal, both of which are financed through loans from the ministry's Project for Agricultural Development and Women's Empowerment. Hneifat later met with local leaders in Basira and discussed the importance of expanding grazing areas and providing veterinary care for livestock. The ministry has allocated JD40 million to finance small, local projects through soft loans, Hneifat noted.
