House speaker meets JPA delegation

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Abdulkarim Dughmi on Sunday met a delegation from the Jordan Press Association (JPA), headed by JPA President Rakan Saaideh.
Dughmi expressed the House’s keenness on addressing the challenges facing the media sector, stressing that “doors are open for media outlets”.
Saaideh briefed Dughmi on a number of challenges facing the media sector, notably the crisis facing the print media and the issue of structuring the official media and the transfer of a number of the JPA members to various state institutions.
The JPA members also called for the consolidation of legislation related to media, which could enhance press freedom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
