AMMAN — The Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission’s (JIACC) prosecutor on Monday ordered the detention of an employee from the Income and Sales Tax Department for 14 days, pending further investigation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The suspect was detained for allegedly asking a taxpayer for a bribe to issue a quittance for his liquidised company, according to an official source quoted by Petra.
JIACC coordinated with the taxpayer and arrested the suspect “red-handed”. Instead of paying the bribe, the taxpayer reported the employee to JIACC for abusing his position and attempting to obtain illegal benefits, the source added, calling on citizens to contact the commission in any similar case.
