AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad on Wednesday met with EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Matteo Fontana and discussed ways to activate bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, security, counterterrorism and crime prevention, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Hammad stated that the military phase of the battle against terrorism is the easiest one, while the stage of combating erroneous ideologies and beliefs is more difficult and requires a long-term strategic plan.
He also reviewed Jordan’s role in addressing regional issues and challenges, as well as the Kingdom’s endeavours to preserve peace and achieve balance and stability. Fontana emphasised the EU’s support for the Kingdom’s development projects and reform programmes, especially the draft decentralisation law.
