AMMAN — The government deals with Syrian refugee issues in the Kingdom in a comprehensive and coordinated way, Interior Minister Mazen Faraiah said on Thursday.

The interior minister’s remarks came during a visit to the Zaatari refugee camp, located some 80 kilometres northeast of Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Faraiah said that checking on services provided to refugees and their living conditions is a national and humanitarian duty.

The government, in cooperation with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is keen on sustaining health, educational and security services to refugees, he said.

Camp Director Col. Tambi Hamkari briefed the minister on the tasks and duties of employees at the camp, who work round the clock in service of refugees.

Hamkari noted that there are some 80,000 refugees in the camp that was established in 2012.
