Jordan chosen as case study for international initiative on renewable energy

AMMAN — The Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC) will launch an international initiative on solar energyfor self-sufficiency, with Jordan as a case study for implementing the initiative, AREC Secretary General Muhammad Taani said on Friday.
According to Taani, the initiative aims at encouraging citizens, investors and small- and medium-sized enterprises to adopt modern and innovative agricultural patterns using solar energy, greenhouses and rainwater storage, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He added that some 50 local and international experts are scheduled to hold a teleconference in June to discuss future challenges for the international economy and renewable energy.
