AMMAN — The Foreign Ministry on Thursday condemned Israeli authorities’ demolishing of several Palestinian houses in Masafer Yatta and the forcible displacement of their residents ahead of Israel’s decision to endorse the blueprints for building more than 4,000 settler units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abul Foul said that the settlement expansion and the forcible displacement of population from their residences are flagrant violations of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, mainly UN Security Council Resolution No. 2334, according to a ministry statement.
The spokesperson also stressed that unilateral practices by Israel, the occupying power, such as building and expanding settlements, confiscating lands and forcible displacement of Palestinians are illegitimate, illegal, rejected and denounced.
He stressed that these measures represent a dangerous violation to international humanitarian law and undermines peace efforts towards reaching a solution to the conflict, means to realise comprehensive and fair peace and opportunities to reach the two-state solution according to international legitimacy resolutions.
