AMMAN — Jordanian Exporters Association (JEA) Vice President Ahmad Khudari inaugurated the Kingdom's pavilion at the Fancy Food Show 2023, an exhibition which commenced on Sunday in New York City.
Thirteen major Jordanian companies specialising in the production of Arab desserts, spices, thyme, nuts, and coffee are taking part in the three-day fair, said a JEA statement on Monday, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The Fancy Food Show is known for attracting exhibitors and visitors from various countries, and is commonly referred to as the "largest specialised event in food and beverages in North America", he said.
Khudari emphasised that the association's participation in the expo is a pivotal step to broadening the national industry's involvement in new markets.
The JEA president further noted that the event serves as a "key commercial platform" for national companies to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the food and beverage industry. The event also serves as an opportunity for national companies to exchange expertise and close commercial deals.
JEA General Manager Halim Abu Rahmeh highlighted the “great” turnout of traders and visitors at the Jordanian pavilion, noting that local industries have gained an "excellent reputation" in the US market and are benefiting from the advantages of the free trade agreement (FTA) signed between Jordan and the US.
Jordanian exporters' participation in foreign exhibitions, particularly those specialised in the food industry, aligns with the Royal vision to enhance the security of the food sector in Jordan by maintaining partnerships, attracting investments, expanding business and increasing production quantities, Abu Rahmeh added.
Jordan signed an FTA with the US in 2000 with the aim of fostering economic, trade and investment cooperation.
During the first quarter of 2023, national exports to the US increased by 8 per cent, totalling JD394 million compared to JD365 million in the same period of 2022, according to official data cited by Petra.
