AMMAN — The Multipurpose Inter-Parliamentary Union (TMIPU) has appointed Jordanian TV presenter Lana Qusous as its goodwill ambassador for media in Jordan.
“I was informed on Wednesday that I had been appointed as the goodwill ambassador and I am really proud that I was chosen for this humanitarian post,” said Qusous, who works at Jordan Television (JTV).
Qusous told The Jordan Times that her role in the new post will focus on developing civil society organisations and “to help countries suffering from natural disasters and wars”.
“This new post complements what I have been working on and believing in for a long time,” added Qusous, who has been with JTV for the past 10 years.
Qusous has worked at various Arabic TV channels for the past 18 years.
TMIPU is an international organisation that concentrates on conflict prevention, reconciliation, peace-building and sustainable development in rural areas, according to its website.
It also works to support UN action to promote peace and security.
TMIPU also supports all countries in assessing the progress made by parliamentary groups in integrating gender equality in their structures and to identify existing challenges.
The organisation invites parliamentarians from around the world to come together to develop common strategies to better respond to the needs of their constituencies, according to the website.
