Jordan welcomes Yemeni consultations to end crisis

AMMAN — Jordan on Wednesday welcomed the holding of the Yemeni consultations that started earlier in the day in Riyadh under the auspices of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The Kingdom also praised the announcement of the legitimacy support coalition in Yemen to halt its military operations inside Yemen as of Wednesday morning in a bid to support efforts aimed to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Haitham Abu Al Foul stressed Jordan's support to efforts to end the Yemeni crisis, whose humanitarian repercussions are worsening, through a political solution based on the accredited references of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive Yemeni national dialogue and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
He also praised Saudi Arabia's efforts and initiatives to end the crisis and achieve security and stability in the country.
The spokesperson added that the Kingdom supports the UN’s efforts and endeavours to solve the Yemeni crisis, calling on Yemeni parties to build on these consultations and encourage them to respond to endeavours seeking to reach a political solution to the crisis.
