JPMC chief, Romanian agriculture minister discuss fertiliser trade

AMMAN — Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Mohammad Thneibat on Sunday met with Romanian Minister of Agriculture Adrian Chesnoy, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation between the countries, including the import of phosphate fertilisers from Jordan for agricultural use in Romania.

The two sides stressed the depth of cooperation between Jordan and Romania in various fields and the importance of developing and strengthening them in order to serve the common interests of the two “friendly” countries.

Thneibat presented the company's plans, stages of development and future projects, indicating that Jordanian phosphate is one of the best in the world.

He pointed out that the visit focused on the possibility of cooperation to establish some phosphate industries for phosphoric acid and dab fertiliser, whether in Jordan or Romania, in addition to Romania's import of Jordanian phosphate.

Thneibat also said that the Romanian delegation expressed keenness to cooperate with the company to meet Romania's needs of phosphate fertilisers, noting that it had been agreed with the Romanian minister to organise a special visit to the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company soon to check on the company's work in its various locations. 

Chensoy praised Jordan’s advanced level in its production of phosphate fertilisers.

He described his visit to the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company as “fruitful”.

He said that the future will witness more cooperation between Jordan and Romania in various fields, stressing the keenness of the Romanian side represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to enhance cooperation with the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company.
