AMMAN — The government has begun implementing the public sector modernisation roadmap, which is regarded as the "main lever" for the economic and political modernisation projects, Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh announced on Wednesday.
The public sector modernisation roadmap is also an important driver of the comprehensive reform project launched by His Majesty King Abdullah and supported by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, as the Kingdom enters the bicentennial of the Jordanian state, Khasawneh added.
Speaking during the opening of "The Role of Secretaries and Directors Generals and the Implementation Mechanisms of the Modernisation of the Public Sector Roadmap" forum, Khasawneh said that the reform project includes three axes: A political reform project, the Economic Modernisation Vision and the 10-year public sector modernisation roadmap.
The directors, Secretaries General and leaders of the public administration are the main drivers of the reform project, the premier said.
The forum is organised by the Institute of Public Administration and the Civil Service Bureau, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He also reiterated that the public sector modernisation roadmap will not affect the rights of public servants and will not result in any layoffs.
The government on Monday began the implementation stage, he said, stressing that the forum is the first step towards directly linking the work of the public sector modernisation committee and the efforts of the Economic and Social Council.
The recent Cabinet reshuffle is meant to cut the number of ministers, he said, highlighting the importance of merging ministries and institutions, he added.
