King, Gül discuss regional challenges

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday met with former Turkish president Abdullah Gül, who is currently visiting the Kingdom to participate in the 10th Amman Security Colloquium, which opened in Amman on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the King and Gül discussed challenges facing the region, especially the dangers of terrorism and extremism, a Royal Court statement said.
Also on Wednesday, King Abdullah met with University of Texas Arlington President Vistasp M. Karbhari at Al Husseiniya Palace, another Royal Court statement said.
They discussed cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research between Jordan and international academic institutions, especially the University of Texas Arlington, which was established in 1895.
During the meeting, attended by Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh, Karbhari said his university looks forward to cooperating with Jordanian universities, especially in nursing studies to train graduates to use the latest technologies.
The University of Texas at Arlington and the Hashemite University have signed agreements in academic and scientific fields, according to the statement.
