AMMAN — The number of the Kingdom's pharmaceutical varieties exported increased by 18 per cent in 2021 compared with 2020, statistics from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) showed on Sunday.

JFDA Director General Nizar Mheidat said that the Kingdom exported more than 2,294 types of locally produced drugs, with a value exceeding JD500 million in 2021, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Antibiotics topped the list of exported drugs in terms of quantity, while immunosuppressant drugs came first in a list based on the value of the medicine, Mheidat noted. He added that the JFDA seeks to further develop national drug exports in 2022 under a strategic plan in coordination with officials in the sector.
