AMMAN — The emergency landing of an airplane belonging to Kuwait Airways was due to a technical malfunction in the left engine, said Bashar Abu Rumman, director of the Aqaba Airports Company and the King Hussein International Airport.

At 12.45 am on Tuesday, the operating room and the navigation tower at the airport were addressed by the captain of one of the Kuwaiti Airways’ airplanes who informed them of a technical malfunction in the airplane’s left engine, requesting permission for an emergency landing. Abu Rumman noted that the airplane was flying from Kuwait to Beirut via Jordan’s airspace, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The director added that the emergency plan was activated and all relevant cadres at the airport, including the civil defence, took the necessary procedures to receive the airplane, which landed safely at 01.10 am with 66 passengers on board.
