AMMAN — Police on Thursday said they have arrested a 21-year-old man who reportedly stabbed his older sister while at their home in an Amman suburb earlier in the day.
The suspect allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old sister six times while at their house, Public Security Department Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said.
“We have the suspect in our custody and investigators are questioning him,” Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
The police official refused to elaborate on the cause of the alleged attempted murder.
“The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, underwent several surgeries and is currently in the ICU listed in critical condition,” the police official added.
Criminal Court Prosecutor Ashraf Abdullah will question the suspect and the victim when she recovers, a second source said.
The suspect is currently detained by order of the Criminal Court prosecutor at a correctional and rehabilitation centre, pending further investigation, the second source said.
