AMMAN — A man was in police custody on Thursday in connection with the stabbing death of his father in an Amman suburb earlier in the day, official sources said.
Authorities were called in at 2am to a house in Nuzha suburb to find a man stabbed to death, a senior official source said.
“The victim’s son was also in the house and claimed to be the perpetrator and that he stabbed his father following an argument,” the source added.
Criminal Court Prosecutor Loai Obeidat started questioning the suspect and other witnesses, a senior judicial source said.
A second source added that initial investigations indicated that “the suspect suffers from mental problems and has a record of mental illness”.
Head of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine Kais Koussous told The Jordan Times that the victim received 13 stab wounds to different parts of his body.
“The post-mortem indicated that most stab wounds were concentrated on his neck, chest and stomach,” Koussous added.
