Minister stresses need to develop sustainable, safe transport system

AMMAN — Minister of Transport Walid Masri on Wednesday stressed the need to accelerate the development of a sustainable and safe public transport system, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the second regional railway forum on Wednesday, Masri said that, without the existence of sophisticated and safe transport networks, there can be no integrated economy.
He noted that the Ministry of Transport is working on several major projects of economic and social importance, most importantly the national railway project and rehabilitation project of the Hijaz route, so as to make Jordan a regional hub for transport and develop the possibilities of integration and cooperation with neighbouring Arab countries.
