AMMAN — The world is well aware of “suspicious projects” that aim at controlling what is left of Palestinian land, Lower House Speaker and President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (APU) Atef Tarawneh said on Friday.
In an APU statement issued on the 53rd anniversary of the 1967 Nakseh (setback), Tarawneh said: "The Israeli occupation is boasting of its perpetration of the most heinous forms of racism and terrorism against Palestinians in a world that lacks international legitimacy and in light of the US bias towards Israel."
The APU is “fully aware” of long-term colonial plans and these projects that aim at ending the Palestinian people's resilience, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported Tarawneh as saying.
Accelerating Israeli/US steps that aim at cancelling the Arab identity of Palestine, judaisation efforts and the legalisation of the annexation of West Bank, Jordan Valley and Golan heights territories come at a time when economic and health conditions are deteriorating internationally, he noted.
The statement called on world powers to adhere to the two-state solution to end the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"The proper reaction to the atrocity of the occupation is through resistance until Palestinians obtain all their rights to return, compensation and statehood on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital," it noted.
