AMMAN — New British Ambassador to Jordan Bridget Brind presented her credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.

Brind, a senior diplomat, has worked extensively in and on the Middle East and North Africa region throughout her career, including in Egypt, Yemen, Iraq and Libya, and as head of Near Eastern Affairs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported citing an embassy statement.

The newly appointed ambassador reaffirmed the UK’s strong and historical relations with Jordan. "I am honoured and delighted to present my credentials and serve in Jordan at this critical time.

And I am proud to do so as the first British woman ambassador to Jordan. The relationship between the UK and Jordan is distinguished by its long history and deep friendship.

I look forward to working to develop and strengthen it further to the benefit of our people", she said. Foreign Ministry Secretary General Saja Majali wished the new envoy success in her mission and further progress in relations between the two friendly nations.
