Number of Petra visitors drops in July

AMMAN — The number of visitors to the ancient city of Petra dropped by 3 per cent in July compared with the figure recorded last year, according to the Petra Archaeological Park.
In July this year, a total of 25,355 people, including 18,923 foreigners, 6,214 Jordanians and 218 state visitors and school and university students, visited Petra, while 26,019 tourists visited the city in July 2013.
Revenues from entry tickets dropped by 10 per cent, amounting to JD413,564 compared with JD459,986 in the year before.
