Number of subscribers in health insurance system stands at 3.490m

AMMAN — The Cabinet has introduced an amended version of the Health Insurance Bylaw aimed to realise justice and equality among subscribers, Nael Adwan, head of the Civil Health Insurance Directorate, said on Monday. In an interview with the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Adwan said that subscribers to the health insurance in the Kingdom total 3.490 million people from various insurance degrees.
He added that the total number includes 650,000 children under the age of six, and 1.408 million people who are beneficiaries from the National Aid Fund and the elderly over 60 years old and poor families, who are all included in the third-degree category.
He highlighted the importance of these amendments to the Health Insurance Bylaw that was endorsed by the Council of Ministers last week, noting that the bylaw will come into effect 60 days after a Royal Decree is issued approving it and publishing it in the Official Gazette.
