Petra closed to visitors for safety reasons

PETRA – The Petra Development and Tourism Authority (PDTRA) closed the ancient Nabataean city to tourists on Saturday due to heavy rainfall and the formation of floods.
PDTRA acting chairman Tharwat Masalha said the decision was taken to protect visitors, especially after the rainfall and the melting snow resulted in the formation of floods in the ancient city.
