AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Monday emphasised the importance of developing an “applicable and realistic” transport strategy based on scientific framework that balances financial aspects and the sector's needs.
During the first meeting of the higher steering committee for transport strategy, Khasawneh highlighted the necessity of considering the current priorities and the sector’s existing projects, mainly the railway link between Aqaba and Madouna, an investment destination for important businesspeople, as well as the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
The formulation of the transport strategy should focus on improving public services, notably those in connection with urban transport and railway projects that attract private sector investments, he said, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
