AMMAN — HRH Princess Basma on Wednesday launched the 2022 Queen Alia Competition for Social Responsibility, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

As one of the initiatives of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), the competition aims to raise the awareness among students and local communities.

It also aims to increase social responsibility initiatives and create a balanced and sustainable relationship with ecosystems.

During the launch ceremony, the princess highlighted the importance of the competition in spreading societal awareness of various issues by enhancing opportunities for learning, thinking and active participation, developing innovative ideas and best practices to tackle social and environmental issues and enabling students to contribute to creating sustainable societies.

The princess, President of the steering committee of the Queen Alia Competition for Social Responsibility, said that the competition will adopt a number of themes in line with the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration until 2030 in order to save the planet and create a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.

Princess Basma commended the support of the contest’s partners, most notably the Ministry of Education, the Directorate of Education for Military Culture and the Education Department of UNRWA.

She also expressed appreciation to all institutions, bodies and individuals supporting the competition in the public and private sectors, the media and the Greater Amman Municipality.

Winners of the 2022 competition will receive 650 prizes of a value ranging from JD50 to JD1,000 donated by philanthropists from various individuals and institutions throughout the Kingdom as a means to encourage participants — especially students — and promote the concepts of volunteer work and social responsibility.
