Princess Muna calls for investing in nursing, midwives human resources

AMMAN — HRH Princess Muna has reaffirmed the importance of investing in nursing and midwives human resources, especially in relation to economic development.
The princess made the remarks in a keynote address at the International Council of Nurses’ (ICN) and the International Confederation of Midwives’ sixth Triad meeting, held in May in cooperation with the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The meeting, attended by nursing and midwifery leaders and representatives from 83 countries, addressed issues of concern for the future of the nursing and midwifery workforce, according to a Royal Court statement released Saturday.
Also in May, Princess Muna, the president of the Jordanian Nursing Council, launched the WHO Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery 2016-2020, during the ICN’s National Nursing Association meeting in Geneva.
She also attended the meeting of the health ministers of the Eastern Mediterranean region, during which the nursing and midwifery strategy for the region was launched.
