Projected by-law to regulate gov’t support for political parties

AMMAN — The Council of Ministers on Sunday approved the mandating reasons for the by-law on funding political parties to be referred to the Legislation and Opinion Bureau, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The draft by-law stipulates keeping the government’s contribution to political parties at JD50,000 a year provided that they commit to the Political Parties Law.
An additional JD20,000 can be provided to parties in an election year to spend on campaigning, while JD5,000 is offered to parties that form coalitions.
