AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi will meet on Saturday with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Amman, ministry’s official spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah announced on Thursday.

Safadi will discuss with Blinken the dire situation in Gaza, Qudah said, adding that Safadi will also emphasise the immediate need to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, deliver urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza, protect civilians and the importance of Israel’s compliance with international law and international humanitarian law while ceasing its ongoing violations.

Qudah said that Safadi is pressing ahead with his regional and international communications to achieve an effective international effort to reach a ceasefire, put an end to the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the intensified Israeli war and warn that failure to stop this war and the atrocities committed by Israel, including killing thousands of Palestinian civilians and committing war crimes, such as depriving them of food, medicine and other essential services, will rapidly push the region toward a regional war that threatens international security and peace.
