AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone, in coordination with the Military Security Directorate and the Anti-Narcotics Department, foiled an attempt to smuggle “large amounts” of drugs into Jordan on Monday.

A source at the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army said that rules of engagement were applied to the smugglers, leading to the injury of one suspect during their retreat into Syrian depth, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

After searching the area, personnel found and seized a total of 818,000 Captagon pills and a firearm, which were then transferred to the relevant authorities, the source added, who also stressed that the army would apply “full force” to thwart any illegal border crossings or smuggling attempts to protect the Kingdom’s borders.
