AMMAN — The Jordan Teachers Association reported on Monday that a student’s father allegedly pointed a gun, that was in his possession, in front of teachers in Muwaqqar, east of Amman, and tried to beat up one of them.
The association said the parent barged into a boys’ primary school after the principal sent his son home for not wearing the uniform.
The father accused a teacher of beating up his son, a charge that the teachers denied. Classes in the school were suspended on Monday and the teachers decided to stage a sit-in in front of Muwaqqar’s Education Directorate on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of this month, the number of assaults against teachers has risen to 14, according to the teachers’ syndicate.
