AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh on Wednesday met with President of the Pakistani Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, Tarawneh said that the Palestinian cause is at a critical crossroads as the US President Donald Trump announced his intention to move the US embassy to Jerusalem and to recognise the holy city as Israel’s capital.
This move, Tarawneh said, will further complicate the Palestinian-Israeli peace process, ignite anger of Muslims and Christians alikes and create an ambiance conducive to terrorism and extremism.
He warned against any attempts to tamper with the city’s holy shrines and its current status quo. For his part, the Pakistani official said the US plan regarding Jerusalem violates relevant international resolutions.
