UNDP signs 9 grant agreements with NGOs

AMMAN — The UNDP on Wednesday signed nine grant agreements with non-governmental associations concerned with protecting national resources in the Kingdom at a total value of $525,000, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Six agreements out of nine are funded by the Global Environment Facility and three by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, all signed by UNDP Jordan Country Director Sara Ferrer Olivella, according to Petra.
Six agreements are worth $225,000 and include environmental development projects in the field of boosting renewable energy management, ecotourism, protection of national forests and sustainable agriculture. The other three agreements worth $300,000 aim at helping communities hosting refugees in Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Mafraq and Zarqa governorates.
