AMMAN — Winners of the 2018 Princess Basma Award for Human Development and Community Service were announced on Wednesday.
The award, implemented by the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD), focuses on social entrepreneurship in projects implemented by young people in their local communities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the ceremony, Princess Basma stressed JOHUD's keenness on empowering the youth, investing in their potentials and helping them develop creative initiatives and innovative projects that have a positive impact on their communities, Petra reported.
Winner of the first place prize was "Recycly" project for collecting recyclable materials and selling them to factories.
The second place prize was granted to "Instatoot" online platform for education while the third-place award was bestowed to the "ShehApp" that utilises video gaming to improve child learning experience, Petra reported.
The three winners were selected among six projects that met the criteria of the award which was launched in 2011 by JOHUD with the aim of encouraging citizens to participate actively in developing their community and country
