‘HOPES’ project holds national dialogue on Syrian crisis projects

AMMAN — The “HOPES” project on Wednesday held its third national stakeholders dialogue in Amman on education projects for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians.

HOPES funded 10 projects to ease the access of higher education for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians from host communities while providing them with capacity-building courses and support, according to a statement sent to The Jordan Times.

The dialogue, titled, “Higher Education and the Syria Crisis: Innovative Projects under the grant scheme of HOPES”, was a part of a series of discussions to bring together representatives from the projects’ ministries, higher education institutions and stakeholders involved in tertiary education as well as the Syria crisis. 

The dialogue provided a platform for discussion on the projects’ various achievements and challenges, as well as possible areas of further exploration to guarantee the greatest possible impact of future projects, according to the statement.

The dialogue also included various presentations from representatives of Yarmouk University, the Centre for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan, the Arab Open University, Al Ahliyya Amman University, the Jesuit Refugee Service and Luminus Technical University College.

The HOPES project was funded by the EU Regional Trust Fund in response to the Syrian Crisis and implemented by the German Academic Exchange Service, the British Council, Campus France and Nuffic, the statement added.
