AMMAN — The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) has intensified its humanitarian aid delivery into the war-torn Gaza Strip ahead of Eid Al Fitr, dispatching an "unprecedented" convoy of land aid consisting of 105 trucks laden with food supplies.

In a statement sent to The Jordan Times on Sunday, JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said, “The convoy, which was prepared and dispatched to Gaza, carried essential food supplies, including rice and flour… the convoy was sent on Sunday to ensure its arrival ahead of Eid Al Fitr.”

Shibli also reiterated the organisation’s commitment to expanding the land routes through the Kingdom into Palestinian territories to expand the flow of aid into Gaza.

He also said that the food supplies will be distributed by the relevant authorities in cooperation with JHCO, adding that “JHCO’s efforts are focused on ensuring a safe and sustainable land relief bridge, in addition to delivering urgent humanitarian assistance through the Karam Abu Salem crossing [between Egypt and Israel].”

The convoy was dispatched in coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF), he said, adding, “This convoy is the largest since the outbreak of the war on the Gaza Strip (on October 7).

“This convoy would be followed by several similar convoys as part of a comprehensive plan aimed at increasing land convoys directed to Gaza.”

Shibli also stressed that this step is a response to the urgent need to support the people in Gaza, who, he said, are grappling with challenging humanitarian circumstances. “Under Royal directives, the Kingdom is committed to playing a pivotal role in facilitating the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip through coordination with international actors and humanitarian organisations.”

According to the JHCO statement, the JAF affirmed that the dispatch of the latest convoy reflects the country’s determination to introduce intensified waves of aid to the people of Gaza, aiming to help them navigate the difficult circumstances during Ramadan and prior to Eid Al Fitr.

The JAF also underscored their ongoing support by sending humanitarian and medical assistance through an air bridge from Marka Airport to Egypt’s El Arish International Airport, or through airdrop operations over Gaza or land aid convoys.

Since the start of Israeli aggression on Gaza, JAF has sent 460 trucks and executed 72 Jordanian air drops and 153 joint airdrops of food and humanitarian aid targeting various locations in Gaza. Additionally, 48 relief aid planes have been dispatched through El Arish International Airport in Egypt.

The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation continues to accept cash donations through its bank account at the Union Bank number JO32 UBSI 1030 0000 4010 1659 9151 06, and through electronic wallets, or CliQ JHCOGAZA, in addition to “eFAWATEERcom” and through its website www.jhco.org.jo.
