AMMAN — The Environment and Food Department personnel in the Zarqa Health Directorate on Sunday shut down 13 bakeries, two desalination plants and a juice shop for precautionary measures, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Zarqa Health Director Daifallah Husban pointed out that the decision was made because of the use of polluted water that does not conform to the Jordanian drinking water standards and poses danger to the health of citizens.
He added that the desalination plants were found to be contaminated with fungi. Husban stressed that the institutions will remain shut down until they rectify their situation and ensuring their compliance with the health standards and requirements stipulated in the Public Health Law.
