2 brothers arrested for alleged murder of father, wife

AMMAN — Criminal Investigation Department personnel on Friday arrested two brothers in Northern Badia for the alleged murder of their father and his wife and an attempt to cover up the crime.

A spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that the Northern Badia Police Department had been notified of the discovery of the two bodies of a man and his wife inside their home, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

When the police reached the scene, the body of the woman was found with stab wounds, while the man was also found dead, with a gunshot wound. A firearm was situated next to his body, the PSD spokesperson said.

Initial investigation revealed the case as a double murder covered up as a murder-suicide, with continued examination leading the investigators to the male victim’s two sons as suspects. The sons were arrested in connection with the case, the PSD spokesperson said.

During the interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime, saying that they had committed it following disputes with their father and his wife and had attempted to cover up the murder, according to the spokesperson.

The suspects were charged with premeditated murder and referred to the Public Prosecutor, who ordered the duo to be detained at a correctional and rehabilitation centre for 15 days pending further investigation, the PSD spokesperson said.
