4,800 establishments closedfor flouting Defence Order No. 11

AMMAN — Joint inspection teams across the Kingdom are intensifying their field tours to ensure compliance with public safety measures and Defence Order 11 to enhance anti-virus efforts, according to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.
According to the daily report prepared by the ministry in coordination with the relevant ministries and government agencies, the joint monitoring teams shut down about 4,800 establishments and issued 14,000 fines for violating public health measures and Defence Order 11 from mid-March until Tuesday. The number of establishments toured by the teams across the Kingdom exceeds 200,000, according to the report.
The number of people who were fined for flouting the defence order reached 11,300 across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing the report.
Defence Order 11 commits people to wearing face masks and gloves, obliges individuals and institutions with "the highest levels of preventive measures" against COVID-19 and imposes penalties on all those who fail to adhere to the regulations.
