51,748 students accepted at public universities — ministry

AMMAN — A total of 51,748 students have been accepted at public universities for the first semester of the academic year 2019-2020, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced on Sunday.
A total of 8,236 students were admitted to the University of Jordan, while 9,083 will go to Yarmouk University, 4,566 to Mutah University, 4,247 to the Jordan University of Science and Technology, 5,564 to the Hashemite University, 3,499 to Al al-Bayt University, 9,844 to Balqa Applied University, 3,112 to Al Hussein Bin Talal University, 1,804 to Tafileh Technical University, and 1,793 to the World Islamic Sciences and Education University.
The list of accepted students was published on the Unified Admission Committee’s website, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The results of the recent Tawjihi (general secondary education certificate examination) have been some of the highest ever recorded, with an overall pass ratio of 60.2 per cent for all students who sat for the exams. Numbers indicate that tens of thousands of students scored 90 per cent or higher, and one student in the scientific stream scored 100 per cent.
