6th Mediterranean Regional Forum to begin Monday in Barcelona

AMMAN — The sixth edition of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Regional Forum for Foreign Ministers, chaired by Jordan and the EU, will start on Monday in Barcelona, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The forum will review regional developments and crises, UfM priorities, the roadmap adopted in 2017, and challenges that the union faces in achieving its Euro-Mediterranean goals. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, along with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, will co-chair the forum.

Safadi will also join the foreign ministers of the southern neighbourhood countries in a meeting with EU foreign ministers.

They will discuss EU policy towards the southern neighbourhood countries and examine progress made under the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. The Jordanian minister will also hold several bilateral meetings with his counterparts and officials on the sidelines of the aforementioned meetings.
