'96-hour Disi water stoppage to affect areas in Amman, Zarqa, Russeifa'

AMMAN — The Water Ministry and the Jordan Water Company (Miyahuna) on Sunday announced that water pumping from the Disi water conveyance project will be discontinued for 96 hours between Monday, November 25 and Thursday, November 28, affecting parts of Amman, Zarqa and Russeifa.

In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, the ministry said this halt in pumping is aimed at enabling programmed maintenance work of the Disi Water Company to ensure continuous pumping year-round. 

The ministry said that the 96-hour stoppage is implemented at this time of the year due to a lower demand for water, noting that it has taken the necessary steps to guarantee water provision to the northern governorates and exempt them from the stoppage. 

The capital’s neighbourhoods that will be affected by the water pumping stoppage are Rabieh, northern Rabieh, Sports City, Arjan, Jabal Amman, Jabal Luweibdeh, Tareq, Manarah, Hay Adan, Hirsheh, Salhiyeh, Al Nasser, Nadi Al Sibaq and Hay Alia.

Other Amman areas to be affected by the stoppage are Bayader, Deir Ghbar, Rawnaq, Hay Al Sahl, Jandawil, Dahiyet Al Amir Rashed, Dahiyet Al Rashid, Shafa Badran, Jubeiha, Um Zweteneh, Hay Al Mansour, Um Al Summaq, Khalda, Abdoun, Dabouq, Marj Al Hamam, Al Yasmin, Al Bnayyat, Al Muqabalin, Central Naur, Qweismeh and Alkumieh.

Additionally, the neighbourhoods of Nuzha, Abu Alanda, Manarah, Um Nuwwarah, Sahab, eastern and western Theibeh, Faisalieh, Mustanadah, Abdaliyeh, Khashafyet Al Dabaibeh, Khashafyet Al Shawabkeh and Iskan Al Marqab in Amman will witness water pumping stoppage. 

Affected Zarqa areas are Dahyet Al Madineh, Hay Al Sweik, Jabal Tareq, Hay Al Jundi, Hay Hamzeh, Dahyet Makkah, Hay Al Falah, Hay Al Qamar, Hay Jaber, Iskan Al Amira Haya, Iskan Al Muhandisin, Shumar, Hay Al Jneineh Al Aali, Um Al Qura Street, Al Mujahidin Street, Al Falah Mosque area, Rahmeh Al Aali, Jabal Hassan Al Aali and King Talal neighbourhoods. 

Affected Russeifa areas are Iskan Al Naqab, Iskan Hashem, Iskan Al Mualimin, Hay Fakhoura, Hay Al Husein, Hay Aratfeh, Hay Al Jundi, Hay Abu Ghalyoun, Hay Um Jaradeh, Awajan, Hay Al Qadisiyyeh, Hay Al Rashid and part of Jreiba.
