ACC reports JD674 million in exports in first half of 2024

AMMAN — The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) said on Saturday that its exports of goods and commodities to both Arab and foreign markets totalled JD674 million in the first half of 2024, marking a slight decrease from the JD678 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2023.
The number of certificates of origin issued by the ACC experienced an increase to 17,375 certificates in the January-June period of this year, compared with 16,215 certificates issued in the first six months of 2023, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Leading destinations for Amman's exports included Saudi Arabia with 4,532 certificates of origin, followed by the UAE with 1,963 certificates, then Iraq and Egypt, with 1,154 and 494 certificates respectively, while Switzerland received 15 certificates of origin from the ACC.
In terms of value, exports were primarily directed towards Iraq, amounting to some JD313 million, followed by Switzerland and Egypt with JD50 million each, Saudi Arabia with some JD49 million, and the UAE with JD48 million.
The distribution of exports by category during the first six months of 2024 included foreign products (re-exports) with a value of JD330 million, followed by industrial products with JD132 million, agricultural products with JD81 million, and Arab products with JD46 million.
The ACC issues certificates of origin for agricultural, animal, and natural raw resources, as well as for foreign goods intended for re-export and foreign goods purchased from the local market subject to specific conditions.
