AMMAN — The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) has announced that it is organising the participation of Jordanian manufacturers, distributors, retailers, exporters and importers in the SourceDirect virtual trade show powered by ASD market week scheduled as of October 2, 2020 through March 2021.

The chamber said the move is part of its ongoing efforts geared towards promoting two-way trade and investment between Jordan and the US AmCham-Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported citing a an AmCham-Jordan statement.

As the chair of AmCham MENA Regional Council, AmCham-Jordan, “being a pioneer in conducting the first of its kind” virtual tradeshow in Jordan and across the region, has extended the programme across MENA AmChams and coordinated efforts on a national level, working closely with Chambers of Industry and Trade as well as Jordan Exports (JE).

SourceDirect 2020, the first virtual tradeshow opportunity for importers and exporters to buy directly from the US and other international buyers, will focus primarily on various sectors such as personal protective equipment, sanitisers, disinfectants, and detergents, cosmetics, food, snacks and beverages, accessories, jewellery, apparel, footwear, beauty and cosmetics, books, electronics, business service solutions, home accents, office and school supplies, pet products, gifts, toys, holiday and seasonal merchandise, souvenirs, and general merchandise of all types.

AmCham-Jordan will host a free preparatory session for Jordanian companies to discuss the method of registration in the ASD Market Week, “one of the largest and most comprehensive trade show for consumer merchandise in the US”.

This year, the ASD Market Week went virtual, offering a large database of online vendor directory, giving the opportunity of 140,000 buyers and 2,700 sellers from the US and around the globe to meet in a virtual market place to conduct their virtual business-to-business meetings, close deals and connect over a long period of time rather than two or three days, read the statement.

After the preparatory session, those who are interested in participating in the virtual trade show will have AmCham-Jordan’s assistance and guidance throughout the process, ensuring that participants are well prepared, helping them develop their online profile and showcase their products, the statement said.

The chamber said that this is a “great opportunity” for Jordanian manufacturers to expand their products to the US market.

Jordan is one of the first Arab countries to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the US.

Despite the economic hardship and challenges faced in the business industry, “the US-Jordan FTA was not affected at any level, yet it proofed solidity, opened doors and collaborations on many levels”, the statement said.
