Amman, Baghdad agree to further bilateral cooperation

AMMAN — Jordan and Iraq on Monday agreed to ease procedures for registering Jordanian pharmaceutical products in Iraq and speeding up the issuance of permits for Kingdom’s pharmaceuticals to enter Iraqi market. 

During the 27th meeting of the Jordanian-Iraqi joint committee, held in Baghdad, both countries agreed to speed up the implementation of the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline once security and stability are restored in Iraq, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The planned pipeline is to carry Iraqi crude oil via Jordan and provide the Kingdom with its oil needs.

During the meeting — chaired by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Soudani — the Iraqi officials called on Jordanian companies to participate in the reconstruction of Iraq in the fields of housing, roads, bridges, municipalities, water and sewerage networks and civil planning. 

Iraqi officials expressed their interest in benefiting from Jordanian expertise in establishing, developing and administering industrial estates, in addition to considering the construction of a joint Jordanian-Iraqi industrial zone, Petra added.
