AND agents conduct series of drug raids nationwide

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) carried out a series of raids across the country, resulting in the arrest of five suspected drug dealers and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, a media spokesperson of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said on Tuesday. 

In Amman, the AND personnel arrested a suspected drug dealer and seized 18,000 narcotic pills in a raid of a house east of Amman. 

In two separate cases, two additional suspected dealers were apprehended with 6,000 pills and other unspecified narcotics, as well as a firearm in their possession. Another man was arrested in possession of 15 palm sized sheets of hashish and 2,000 narcotic pills found during a raid. 

In Aqaba, AND agents managed to track down a suspected drug dealer who supplied drugs to local sellers. Police raided his home, arrested him and found 700 grammes of cocaine, 10,000 narcotic pills, one kilogramme of hashish and a firearm, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

The spokesperson reported that in Ramtha district, police intercepted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotic pills, hidden inside a vehicle, into a neighbouring country. One man was arrested and 20,000 narcotic pills were seized.
