AND destroys seized narcotics

AMMAN — The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) on Wednesday busted large quantities of drugs seized in 107 adjudicated cases. The department's effort is to implement the law and protect society from the scourge of drugs, ensure that those involved in drug-related crimes are brought to justice and help reduce the spread of these harmful substances in society, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. The Public Security Directorate works in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, the Jordanian security services, and customs at the operational and intelligence levels to prevent drug smuggling and trafficking. The cases deal with various charges such as trafficking, possession and smuggling.  The seized quantities included 1 -million and 141 thousand Captagon pills, 2,211 kilogrammes of hashish, 118 kilogrammes of marijuana, 9 kilogrammes of cocaine, 23 kilogrammes of crystal meth, 6 kilogrammes of Joker powder, 1,250 kilogrammes of khat, and 20,000 other narcotic pills. The drugs were burned in special ovens at temperatures of up to 1000°C to ensure their destruction and strip the resulting materials of any narcotic properties.
