AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff Gen. Mashal Al Zaben, who is also the King's military adviser, arrived in Cairo on Tuesday to attend a meeting of Arab army chiefs at the Arab League, which will convene on Wednesday, a statement issued by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army said.
Participants will discuss the formation of a joint military force which Arab League leaders agreed to at the Arab summit in Egypt last month.
Participation in the joint force is optional for member states of the Arab League. Its main task is to address threats facing any Arab state or pan-Arab security, including those posed by terrorist organisations, the Arab leaders said in the Sharm El Sheikh Declaration at the end of the 26th Arab League Summit late March.
