AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone on Wednesday foiled a “major” attempt to smuggle firearms and drugs by 11 people from the Syrian territories into the Kingdom, the largest in months.
A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that the rules of engagement were applied, which resulted in the death of three suspects and the injury of two others, who were arrested, in addition to the retreat of six suspects back to the Syrian territories.
Upon searching the area, security forces seized a number of weapons and found 1.3 million Captagon pills and 2,100 Lyrica pills that were all referred to the concerned agencies, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. The source also stressed that the army will not tolerate any smuggling or infiltration attempt.
