AMMAN — A military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army on Monday said that an eastern military zone unit, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department, thwarted an alleged drug smuggling attempt, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

According to the source, eight people allegedly tried to trespass from Syria to Jordan, where security personnel applied the rules of engagement leading to their retreat to Syria.

After searching the area, nine bags containing 50,000 Tramadol pills, 1.63 million Captagon pills, 49 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 118 rounds of Kalashnikov ammunition were reportedly seized and transferred to the concerned authorities.
