AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone thwarted a drug smuggling attempt on Thursday involving an aerial projectile carrying Captagon from Syrian territory.

An official military source in the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF) said "The Border Guard forces in the Northern Military Zone detected an attempt to illegally cross the border with an aerial projectile from Syrian territory into Jordanian territory. 

“Engagement rules were applied, and it was shot down within Jordanian territory,” the source added. 

The source also said that the projectile carried four bags of narcotics containing 3,990 Captagon pills, which were handed over to the relevant authorities.

The source affirmed that the JAF is determined to deal with any threats along the border fronts with strength and decisiveness and to thwart any attempts aimed at undermining and destabilising the security of the nation and terrorising its citizens.
